Concerto (II. Accelerando) for double bass and computer realized sound (2006)

- score (computer part and click track available upon request)

Concerto (II. Accelerando) is the second of four pieces exploring four musical changes: crescendo, accelerando, decrescendo and ritardando. The concerto is built around two main ideas. The first comes from the constant acceleration of tempo based on sinusoidal curves, meaning that no two beats will be the same duration, and the relationship between the acceleration of any two beats to the acceleration of the next two beats will not be linear. Second, the computer acts as an antagonist to the soloist, at times obscuring the sense of pulse, at others challenging the performer to keep up with the accompaniment, and at others overwhelming the performer with sound.

This piece was written for Kristján Sigurleifsson.
